EasyTides

About EasyTides

Official NOAA tide times for 3,248 locations on every US coast, made simple to read on a phone.

Why We Built EasyTides

Checking the tide should take a few seconds. Too often it means a slow page, a wall of ads and a table that is hard to read in bright sun. EasyTides is the page we wanted for ourselves before a day of fishing, boating or walking the beach.

What Makes EasyTides Different

  • Official times, to the minute. Every tide time is NOAA's own prediction, and every page names the station it comes from.
  • Made for your phone. A live tide clock, a clear chart and today's highs and lows up top, with larger text one tap away and a light or dark look.
  • Everything for the day on one page. Weather, wind and the boating forecast, live weather service alerts, fishing windows and solunar times, first light, water temperature and high tide flooding.
  • Every coast. 3,248 locations in 30 states and territories, from the Florida Keys to the Aleutians.
  • No clutter. No popups, no accounts, nothing to sign up for.

Where the Times Come From

Every tide time is NOAA's official prediction for a named station, refreshed every morning. Each page lists its station number. Some locations are timed from a nearby reference station, and those pages say so.

What the Heights Mean

Heights are feet above mean lower low water (MLLW), the average of the lowest tide each day. A negative number means the water drops below that average.

The Fishing Outlook

It is a rule of thumb, not a promise. A tide change near sunrise or sunset rates well, and so do the bigger tides that come around the new and full moon. Small tides with no change near first or last light rate slow. The best windows are the two hours around each tide change near daylight, and the chart shades them.

Solunar Times

Solunar times follow the moon. Major periods are the two hours around the moon passing overhead or underfoot, and minor periods are the hour around moonrise and moonset. Many anglers plan around them, most of all when one lines up with a tide change.

Weather, Wind and Alerts

The forecast, the boating forecast and any active alerts come straight from the National Weather Service. The page checks for new alerts each time it opens, including rip current statements, small craft advisories and coastal flood warnings for the location.

Sun and Moon Times

Sunrise, sunset, first and last light, moonrise, moonset and the moon overhead are worked out for each location. We checked them against the US Naval Observatory, and they match to the minute.

Fishing Rules

Each location links to its state's own license and size and bag limit pages. Rules change through the year, so the state page is always the one to trust.

High Tide Flooding

When a predicted high tide reaches or comes close to a station's minor flood line, the page says so. The line is the National Weather Service flood level where it exists. Predictions do not include wind, rain or storm surge, so real water can run higher.

Not for Navigation

Use official charts and notices when you run a boat. These pages are for planning a day on the water. See our terms and privacy policy.
