About the Tides at Friday Harbor

Friday Harbor gets just one high tide and one low tide on most days, instead of the two a day many coasts see. On a typical day the water rises and falls about 8.0 feet.

Over the next two weeks the biggest tides come on Wednesday, November 11, when the water moves about 9.7 feet. The lowest water is -1.3 ft on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:12 PM, and the highest is 8.5 ft on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:51 AM. A minus tide like that uncovers the most beach, flats and tide pools.

NOAA station 9449880 here measures the water live. Minor flooding starts when the water reaches 9.5 ft.
